DURATION: (4) Term/levels (4) weeks per term, (5) hrs/week.
2017 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Open to students who have no previous knowledge of Tajweed.
- Students who have passed the “Arabic for Quran” Course.
- Have experience in using the Internet and the ability to learn how to use our LMS – Moodle.

Objective:
- The objective of this course is to provide students the comfortable transition from the Beginner to Proficiency Level in achieving a good understanding of Tajweed.
- The course aims to improve students’ theoretical and practical skills in Tajweed.
- The course provides a plentiful background for students to gain the knowledge and become Tajweed teachers in the future.
- Encourage students to be dependent on themselves in reciting the Quran.
- Provide students with cumulative knowledge of Tajweed during the course.
Method:
- The course will be taught in both Arabic and English.
- Students will be able to make a dissection leading to a total understanding of the Tajweed rules.
- Independent exercise is required for personal improvement in each topic, giving students confidence and motivation.
- Regular review with discussion.
- Class size is limited to one on one to allow students’ intensive interactive practice with individual feedback and advice on progress.
Participation:
Active participation are necessary to achieve the stated goals.
Level of Beginners:
Overview of content:
Topics taught during this level:
- (Istaaza and Basmala) rules
- Definition of Tajweed, Principles of Tajweed science and its rules, corners of the right recitations and its levels, the signs of stopping (al-Waqf) in Moshaf.
- Rules of doubles Meem and noon letters.
- Character of QallQalah and its letters.
- Rules of silent Meem letter.
- Rules of silent Nun and Tanween.
Course outline:
- By the end of this level the student will acquire the knowledge of Istaaza and Basmala rules.
- The student will have the knowledge of the principle rules of Tajweed.
- The student will be able to partly practice the recitation of Quranic verses.
- Will be able to define the rules and apply them correctly and effortlessly.
Course Outcome:
If the student passes this course with 75% at least, they will successfully move to the Intermediate level.
Intermediate level:
Overview of level content:
Topics taught during this level:
– Rules of lengthening Alphabets (Long vowels).
– Emphatic and non-Emphatic Sounds of letters.
– Rules of Silent Laam.
Course outline:
– The student will move to a developed level of understanding in Tajweed rules besides higher improvement in Quranic recitation.
– Also, the student will obtain the knowledge of characters of sounds of the Arabic Alphabet and will be able to extract the differences between them.
– The student will complete the Lessons of silent Alphabets and what is the consequence according to them.
Course outcome:
If the student passes this level with 75% at least, they will successfully move to the next level (advanced level).
Advanced level:
Overview of level content:
Topics taught during this level:
– The Articulation of the Alphabet.
– The characters of the Alphabet.
– The relation between Alphabets and the rules resulting on that relation.
– Extensions of Long vowels (Lengthening).
Course outline:
– The students will learn the Articulation of the Arabic Alphabets with an individual knowledge of each alphabet.
– They will also be able to acquire skills and the knowledge to correct the pronunciation of the Quran and observe each sound and character of the pronunciation.
– The student will have the ability to improve their knowledge of the Tajweed rules in an advanced method.
Course outcome:
If the student passes this course with 75%at least, they will successfully move on to the final level (proficiency level).
Proficiency level:
Overview of level content:
Topics taught during this level:
– Starting and stopping (waqf WA ebtdaa).
– The different types of stopping at the end of the words.
– Ways of stopping on the Alphabet (Taa).
– Extensions of the long vowels.
Course outline:
– By the end of this course, students’ will have gained proficiency in the knowledge of Tajweed
– tudent will have the ability the appropriate way in reciting Quran as true recital.
– The student will gain a fertile environment in the Tajweed skill give them the abilities to discover the mistakes in reciting and mending it, beside they will have the ability to make comparison between true and false in reciting.
– The students will obtain the skills to correctly performance to the rules of Tajweed for reciting.
– To enhance the skills added during the course through the continuous practices of the Tajweed rules.
Course outcome:
If the student passes this course with 75% at least, they will successfully move to the memorising course or Ijaza course.
- The book of Tajweed will be presented By I.O.L.
