DURATION: (1) Term, (8) weeks per term, (5) hrs/week.

2017 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Objective:

  • The module objectives are to develop higher intermediate levels of competence in consulting, reading and understanding the Qur’anic text in the original language
  • Focus is on acquiring more complex grammatical structures, which will include syntactical, morphological and phonological analyses, expanding Qur’anic vocabulary, and developing ability in consulting a range of Qur’anic reference works such as translations, dictionaries, commentaries and a concordance.
  • Students will also be introduced to the distinctive features of Qur’anic orthography and samples of manuscripts.
  • Also, this course provides the students who want to learn how to read Quran and Tajweed without digging deep into the Arabic language. So, they learn from Arabic what makes them capable of reading Quran and applying Tajweed rules efficiently.
  • The general objective of this course is to familiarize students with the sounds and letters of the Arabic characters, vowels (harakat) and (tanween). And basic reading skills.
  • Students are encouraged to read verses from Mushaf in the lesson.

Method:

  • The course is taught in Arabic and includes coverage of the three skills of listening, speaking and reading. Authentic audio, videos, and reading materials are presented.
  • Will focus on the three main skills for this course Listening, Speaking and reading by watching, listening and reading. Mainly focusing and practicing on reading.
  • This course available in one to one same as group lessons
  • Class size is limited to five to allow intensive interactive practice with individual feedback and advice on progress.

Participation:

Attendance, active participation and doing assignments are necessary to achieve the stated goals.

Overview of course contents: 

Part 1:

  • The Arabic Alphabet (Characters and Sounds).
  • Learning all vowels with the Arabic name.
  • Reading & writing with vowels:
    • Letters.
    • Two connected letters.
    • More than two connected letters (word).
    • Half verses; Two words.
    • Half verses; Three words.
    • Small Verses.
    • Small Quran verses.
    • Small Surah’s for Prayer.

Part 2:

  • Reading efficiently verses from Mushaf.
  • Correcting the reading by listening.
  • Small speech with short sentences.
  • Reading and memorising some small verses from Quran.
  • Reading and memorising some Surah’s for prayers.

Course Outline:

  • Learn how to read with all vowels step by step.
  • From one letter to two connected letters then to one word with three letters with vowels till reading small verses in a suitable level.
  • Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to read and listen some of the Verses from Mushaf efficiently.

Recommended Study Habits:

  • Going to the Glossary activity and revising some vocabulary with its images or phrases.
  • Listening to the videos of the letters and seeing the proficient pronunciation.
  • Recording audio and sending it to the teacher for correction.
  • Try to read verses from Quran directly.

Course Outcome:

If the student passes this course with 75% at least, they will successfully move to the next level “Quran or Tajweed for beginners”.

Materials

  • The Book presented from our institute.
  • The student will receive audio and video files and he’s required to watch and listen and repeat then record with his voice.
