  • Design courses and provide teaching and assessment materials, including exam and tutorial questions.
  • Teach Quran at all levels of different age groups, support learners and supervise online activities in specific areas
  • Setting and marking exams and oral tests
  • Setting and marking essays and, where relevant, dissertations
  • Attending exam board meetings online.
  • Share administrative responsibilities of the subject area, including:
  • Acting as a course organizer
  • Assisting with quality assurance procedures
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the design or revision of course units.
  • Research about blended learning and educational technologies.
  • Any other duties that may reasonably be required of a Teaching Fellow, as requested by the Head of Department.

Planning and Organizing
The post holder will:

  • Be expected to organize and carry out their work with limited supervision
  • Be required to liaise closely with other colleagues in the department

Problem Solving
The post holder will:

  • Liaise with Undergraduate Teaching Organization staff to resolve student issues and matters relating to course administration
  • Use knowledge derived from internal and external sources or previous experience to improve teaching practice
  • Help and advice students as appropriate.

Decision Making
The post holder will:

  • Be responsible for running their teaching commitments on a day—to—day basis and for decisions involved in so doing
    • Fluency in Arabic as fluency in English
    • Commitment to high quality teaching and learning
    • Experience and demonstrable success, in delivering effective university teaching
    • A demonstrable capacity to create teaching material
    • Proven record of ability to manage time and to work to strict deadline
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Successful study of relevant subject at BA or MA level
